cups and family project

i have finished with the greenware stage of my family project as of nearly two weeks ago, i have been waiting for them to dry and for a chance to toss them into the kiln. Also i have been throwing cups and those are nearly all dry now. I have to get those fired, but i enjoy working on my cup forms because they are fun, quick, and rewarding, and its not the end of the world if one of them breaks. anyways i was talking with jack and i think one thing that im going to try to do on most of my cups from now on is to leave the throw lines because its a neat and simple texture that shows style. heres some pictures!

assemblage piece

my assemblage turned out much better than i expected it would and although it was relatively fun i dont think that i'm going to do any more of them this year, and i'm super excited to get working on my concentration! i'm not sure what exactly i'm going to do for it but at the moment i'm throwing lots of cups and experimenting with different forms. anyways heres a picture of my assemblage:

more lidded vessels!

after doing the majority of the work on my family project that i made a series of lidded vessels for i think that i enjoy them and i would like to refine my forms and work a little bit more with them. essentially i want to combine my vase forms from last year, and adapt them a little bit so that they flow with a lid on. i was thinking something along the lines of this. and i really enjoy the colors of this pot, i'd like to see if i can get some glazes like this

Family project

right now i really don't have any ideas set in concrete about what i'm going to do for my family project. My favorite idea right now is to make a series of four lidded vessels all with the same style but each with something unique about them that would correlate to all of the members of my family. i was thinking as far as a basic form, something along the lines of this:

shocking art

for my shocking art piece i made a syringe out of nails, i thought it was pretty interesting and that it also made a statement.

now that we finally have more worktime in class, i'm still refining my cup shape and throwing the occasional vase. i'm excited to start working more on concentration pieces rather than breadth soon. however for the mean time we have a family oriented project to make out of clay, i have no idea what i want to do for that, but its a good time to start thinking!
